|
|
Tadarise, containing the active ingredient tadalafil, is primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Priapism, a prolonged and painful erection unrelated to sexual stimulation, is a rare but serious side effect associated with medications like Tadarise that belong to the class of phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. While priapism is a rare side effect of Tadarise, it's more commonly associated with another PDE5 inhibitor, sildenafil (Viagra). Tadalafil (Tadarise) has a longer duration of action compared to sildenafil, which could theoretically increase the risk of priapism. However, the incidence of priapism with tadalafil is relatively low. To mitigate the risk of priapism, it's essential to use Tadarise as prescribed and not to exceed the recommended dosage. If an erection lasts longer than four hours while taking Tadarise, it's crucial to seek immediate medical attention to prevent potential complications associated with priapism, such as tissue damage and permanent erectile dysfunction. Additionally, individuals with conditions predisposing them to priapism, such as sickle cell disease or leukemia, should exercise caution when using medications like Tadarise and consult their healthcare provider before starting treatment. |
