Vigora 100 mg contains Sildenafil Citrate, which is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. Its mechanism of action involves the following steps:
Inhibition of PDE5 Enzyme: Vigora 100 mg inhibits the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), which is responsible for breaking down cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). cGMP is a substance that helps relax smooth muscle cells and dilate blood vessels.
Increase in cGMP Levels: By inhibiting PDE5, Sildenafil increases the levels of cGMP in the smooth muscle cells of the corpus cavernosum (the erectile tissue in the penis). Elevated cGMP levels lead to increased relaxation of these smooth muscles.
Enhanced Blood Flow: The relaxation of smooth muscle cells and dilation of blood vessels allow more blood to flow into the penis. This increased blood flow is essential for achieving and maintaining an erection.
Sexual Stimulation Required: It’s important to note that Sildenafil only works in the presence of sexual stimulation. Sexual arousal leads to the release of nitric oxide (NO), which stimulates the production of cGMP. Sildenafil enhances the effects of NO by preventing the breakdown of cGMP.
Erection Maintenance: As a result of increased blood flow and the ability to maintain the erection, men with erectile dysfunction can achieve and sustain an erection suitable for sexual activity.
Sildenafil generally starts working within 30 to 60 minutes after ingestion, and its effects can last for up to 4 to 6 hours. It should be taken on an empty stomach or with a light meal to optimize its effectiveness and reduce the likelihood of delays in absorption. |
