Fildena 150 mg is a medication that contains the active ingredient sildenafil citrate. It is primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. Sildenafil citrate belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) inhibitors. It works by inhibiting the enzyme PDE-5, which is responsible for breaking down a chemical called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the smooth muscle cells of the penis. When a man is sexually aroused or stimulated, nitric oxide (NO) is released in the penile tissues. NO is a chemical messenger that relaxes the smooth muscles in the blood vessels of the penis. In response to NO release, cGMP levels increase in the penile tissues. cGMP is responsible for dilating the blood vessels in the penis, allowing more blood to flow into the erectile tissues. By inhibiting PDE-5, Fildena 150 mg tablet helps to maintain higher levels of cGMP in the penile tissues. This, in turn, leads to prolonged relaxation of the smooth muscle cells in the penis and increased blood flow to the area. The increased blood flow to the penis results in a firm and sustained erection, provided there is sexual stimulation. It's important to note that Fildena 150 mg does not directly affect overall blood circulation throughout the entire body. Its effects are localized to the blood vessels in the penile region, specifically to facilitate and maintain an erection during sexual arousal. It does not impact blood circulation in other parts of the body unless taken inappropriately or in excessive doses, which can lead to potential side effects and complications. |
